In the weeks ahead of the New York Central Railroad Mohawk No. 3001’s relocation for restoration by the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society in New Haven, Indiana, the City of Elkhart and the National New York Central Railroad Museum hosted Farewell to the Mohawk on September 4 and 5. Featured speakers included Kelly Lynch, Executive Director of the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society; Brent Haloway, Assistant Curator of the Museum; and Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson.
